What to do there
There are a lot of things to see in Chiemsee and around Chiemsee. First of all Chiemsee is not just a lake but there are also 4 islands inside the lake. The two biggest islands Herreninsel and Fraueninsel you can visit them by boat. We recommend that you take the boat (only passengers, no cars or motorbikes etc) from the village of Prien am Chiemsee that is located in the west part of the lake.
What to eat there
Bavaria and the surrounding states have a long tradition in food. If you are a mear lover then of course a Leberkäs for the quick hunger is the right choice. Then there are a lot of options in sausages such as Weißwurst (white sausage), Nürnberger Bratwurst. If you like past then try the Spätzle. If you are vegetarian then try the Knödel in Pilzsoße (Dumplings in mushroom sauce).

The nearest city of Chiemsee is Rosenheim. There are plenty of Hotels and Hostels in the city to choose from and is approx. 20km from Chiemsee.
How to get there
The best Option to reach Chiemsee is with either the Car or by Train. You reach the village Prien am Chiemsee and then you can take the passengers boat to visit the small islands inside the Chiemsee Lake.
If you are coming from Munich by car you need approx. 1 hour to reach Prien am Chiemsee.
The nearest airports are the Munich International Airport (approx. 120km) and the Salzburg Airport in Austria (approx. 60km).
